You return home to a quiet and sleepy town to learn more about the fate that befell your father and the mysteries surrounding this oddly mysterious place. Hard to put my finger on all the story and the character other than she's a pessimistic, kinda goth, party-loving, college drunk, girlbosses. It's pretty quirky and wild as the world is viewed through the potentially unreliable narrative of Edna as you attempt to escape from a deranged and evil therapist while trying to recover your memory. There's a ridiculous amount of interaction and dialogue along with a fun art style and sometimes confusing puzzles. Edna is a patient to a mental ward who talks with her stuffed rabbit companion, Harvey. Yet another Daedalic game, Edna and Harvey again has oddly charming characters. The setting and the characters also felt so interesting and a lot of them were humorous in some fun way. In the eyes of your character you are a genius who can do no wrong as you tumble your way through your mission, making friends and losing them just as well as they sit in your wake of chaos as you try to save the 'princess in the castle' out of not a goal of goodwill, but your own personal greed. Maybe I just have a really bad sense of humor but for some reason I found its humor amusing. One of the reasons I liked Deponia was because of its risque (and sometimes offensive) humor and sarcasm along with the amazingly designed oblivious and narcissistic jerk of a main character who you love to hate. The characters have some smarts and quips about them even in their absolutely awful circumstances and power through as resilient survivors. To me, it was enjoyable for its themes and how it tackles very dark topics like mental health but with an air of healing and not just for the sake of edge. Lastly one of my other favorites I found surprisingly enjoyable was Kathy Rain. The Devil Came Through Here series, such as Lorelai / The Cat Lady / Downfall / Burnhouse Lane.ĭaedalic classics such as the Deponia series, Edna and Harvey: The Breakout / Edna and Harvey: Harveys New Eyes. I am also a fan of moon logic, having played a good few of Daedalic games, but I love simpler games too! I am just not adverse to more esoteric puzzles.Īs far as favorites go, my biggest go-to's are: I have often stuck to point and click, but I am open to different mediums of how it's played. I'm having poor luck finding games comparable to these which scratch a very specific itch.
